The T isnt the only one with problems....

L train might shut down Manhattan-Brooklyn service in hipster nightmare

The MTA might totally shut down L-train service between Manhattan and Brooklyn for more than a year — creating a nightmare for hundreds of thousands of straphangers on the already cramped route.

The drastic measure on hipster heaven Williamsburg’s transit lifeline would be the quickest and cheapest way to repair damage to the 80-year-old Canarsie Tube under the East River caused by Hurricane Sandy, said MTA spokesman Adam Lisberg.

Its too expensive to maintain these commuter rail trains, Baker should just replace them with buses like he has proposed on the Mattapan spur of the red line. It would save all the hassle of repairing, and probably save a lot of expense. Win win.

every so often due to mechanical failure, etc., you're looking at a three hour commute every morning and evening because of traffic conditions.

Convert the Od Colony lines to busways. Well, except Lakeville, since they are running trains to the Cape.

It was a proposal back in the day. Baker's team is the first one I've heard ending the Mattapan trolley.

Correct me if I am wrong but of all the posts the last year about breakdowns on the rails I don't remember any involving the Mattapan Line which makes the line the obvious choice to be torn up and replaced by buses by management.

However, those trolleys are the first to be taken out of service and replaced with buses the minute snow falls. (they do not fare well in the snow)

how we ever survived the winter when ALL of the Green Line was using the same PCC cars. I don't seem to remember the T closing down the Green Line every time it snowed more than a few inches. In fact, I remember riding on PCCs on the Arborway line in the snow. Hmmm. Nowadays they stop running the articulated buses when it snows. But, hey, winter happens!
