Riders on one T bus departed en masse in Waltham this morning

This was Dani B's 70 bus just after it pulled into Central Square in Waltham around 8:30 a.m. Discretion proved the better part of valor for riders.

I wonder if that's the same bus I got off of in Watertown Square. If so, I feel for the driver. He'd already been yelled at by at least one passenger... At least he made it to the end of the route.
ETA: Nevermind, wrong Central Square. Reading comprehension is such an underappreciated skill. So now I know at least two 70 drivers had a crappy morning.

If it is a clogged or overheated diesel particulate filter, it can result in smoke and even flames coming from the exhaust stack, but its not the same as serious as an engine fire. Usually, shutting the bus down will clear the smoke without the assistance of the local fire department.

That's actually exactly what happened. Shortly after I took the photo the driver went back in and shut off the bus and the smoke stopped.

Similar at Forest Hills
Saw similar at Forest Hills once. In that case it was some pulley that jammed, possibly the AC unit, and the large belt dragged and burned from friction. Once the bus was shut off the smoke stopped. Smelled of burning rubber. Towed away.
