They got yer cones right here

Collected cones and other space savers

The city of Boston displays some of the cones, trash cans and other space-saver detritus now piling up at a public-works yard as city crews continue to collect space savers that weren't supposed to be put out.

Presumably, the growing pile will melt by mid-July, no doubt aided by whatever's behind that radiation sticker on the dumpster.

If they were really trying, they could get that many in a couple hours just in one neighborhood. But it's better than nothing I guess.

The important part is that they're removing enough that it's plausible that the city removed, say, the one that you happened to remove. They just have to remove enough, publicly enough, that neighbors can start to take action as well without worrying about getting shanked by the guy who put out the flamingos and the tea tables before it even started snowing.

Are individuals buying cones retail?

Does Home Depot have a spacesaver aisle?

Our house has a couple cones now after NStar put them out for work they never did and abandoned them. Use them to mark the driveway (which is easy to accidentally park in front of) during storms.

(or maybe not) how often work crews leave a cone or two behind after a job...

And of all things it was left in the driveway next to my car. I've been pondering some devilish thing to do with it, but I don't want to be a prick about it.

People who like to steal public property (street parking) are probably also okay with stealing public property (traffic cones).

You can buy them in a store.

...but I'm definitely not voting for Marty if he doesn't put an end to these ridiculous parking, space saver and snow removal policies.

In my Dorchester neighborhood, an inch of snow means many of my neighbors start putting junk in the street to claim 'their' piece of public property for as long as possible. Some of these people even have driveways that they rarely use!

Probably a third of the cars on the street haven't moved since friday's storm, 6 days ago.

Maybe if the city would charge a few bucks for parking, there wouldn't be such huge demand for a free good, and there would be money available to mount a more than half-assed snow plowing and removal effort.
