Shovelling out every day and night like everyone else. Or making snow lounges where their yards are supposed to be. Or jumping into snow banks from 2nd story windows. Or Loon Mountain.

My kids and I were reminiscing that just about exactly a year ago we were sitting by the roaring fire in our outdoor ice castle. This year we cleaned mud off our shoes instead.

Winter is better than March or April. You can't play on the fields, you can't go sledding or skiing. The streets are even more covered in garbage than usual.

The Tampa Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau are behind the Eight-Man March. It holds the trademark for “#ProtestWinter,” and its website urges visitors to “Occupy Someplace Warm.” Monday morning’s spectacle happened a short distance from where the Occupy Boston protests—you know, the real kind—happened five years ago this fall.

In that case, seriously, where were these guys last year?

That would have been a perfect time to do this. This winter hasn't been bad to us, and is winding down, why would I want to plan to go somewhere warm now, when its getting warm here?

Travel Show was in town this past weekend, so the Tampa folks are probably still around...

I wish that I was downtown today and could find my old sign (produced by the National Ski Areas Association or some such) with that line. It would be a fun mock counter-protest, but knowing some of the Massholes around here, I'd probably get spit on.

They completely blocked the path of anyone heading from South Station into the Financial District/towards Government Center. And the people heading that way did not seem to be too happy when I passed by them this morning...

My guess is at the very least one of the protesters is an undercover cop

Pun intended. I don't care what this is for, I just like that some people can have fun with protests and they don't always have to be run by misinformed millennials with twisted agendas. This is creative and fun. But I agree this would have been funnier last winter when it was awful. This winter has been a cake walk.

Hw would they know that temps would be slightly higher than usual and snow would be practally nonexistent.

This reminds me of a march about a decade ago. It was in March and meant to highlight Global Warming. It was cold and snowy their whole voyage from Amherst to Boston. Go figure.

and were there by the Tickets kiosk around 11:30 when I crossed over to the BPL. I actually said the exact same words in Adam's headline to the person who handed me the card urging me to visit their website & enter for a free trip to Tampa. She told me they had been here last year handing out sunglasses promoting a similar raffle.
