Dorchester artist to make it an at-large race

The Herald reports Aziza Robinson-Goodnight, 33, plans to run for one of the four at-large council seats in this fall's elections, hoping to take one of the seats now held by Michelle Wu, Annissa Essaibi-George, Michael Flaherty and Ayanna Pressley.

Nothing would make me happier than to see more people run for the at-large seats and force a preliminary in September.

I'm happy with 3/4's of the at-large councilors but I can't stand when anyone gets a "free pass" to an election.

Of course, if only five challengers announce, the City Council will no doubt make it legal to skip the primary, regardless, as they did several years ago.

That's why we need six challengers. Who's in??!

All the signs I've seen have been "repurposed" (Stolen?) from other candidates or advertisements and sloppily slathered in green and white housepaint. I'm pretty sure a few are still zip-tied to fences.

It's his time. We now know from a previous UHub post about banners on overpasses that it's ok to leave signs up forever. It's beyond wrong to take them down.

I say elect him. Doug Bennett obviously cares more about the city than 99% of posters on this site, as he actually runs for basically everything. Sure, maybe he does it for the nice salary and cushy benefits, but doesn't everyone else we elect do the same? Can he REALLY be worse than the hacks already in place? I mean, Marty freakin' Walsh is our mayor. The man is a doughy clown with the cracking voice of a teenager whose daddy and his friends bought the guy's way into public office. Making it 6 months without a HARD gaffe is like a benchmark accomplishment for the guy.
Dougie knocked on my door and introduced himself. I honestly don't care if he is a whack job or not. I'll vote for him. The hand-painted signs show gumption.

If you take a look at his Facebook feed, you'll see he's returned to his roots as a Tea Partier. Sorry, we have enough of those without electing one to the Boston city council.

Marco sure as heck sounds like another one of Doug's alter egos. Doug and Marco both think that knocking on a door is a reason to vote for someone.

Dougie knocked on my door once a few years ago. He asked for my vote. I told him I would not vote for him due to his appearance at a Tea Party rally on the Common back in the early days of the Tea Party movement. He flat out lied, said it wasn't true, and became quite belligerent. I told him to leave, and when he tried to give me his flyer, I said I didn't want it. He taped it to my door anyway, using that super sticky hard to remove tape that he is famous for.

LIke our so-called president, Dougie has a nasty, angry, and dangerous streak in him. When he was actively posting here on Uhub, he frequently showed that side of his personality. And like our so-called president, Doug's policy positions are all over the map. He stands for whatever he thinks will get him elected. I am not surprised to hear of his recent Facebook postings.

Unlike Marco/Doug, I will never vote for Dougie.
