EcoForum Challenges Individuals to Find Their Water Mission

The plethora of current water ecology issues have significant effects on the world population, but the sheer number and range of topics make it difficult for individuals to separate the facts and take action. The Water & Resiliency EcoForum on August 11th will feature five environmental activists, policy makers, and water conservation professionals, who will share valuable information for individuals looking to take action.

“I want to bring awareness of not just the problems, but the solutions that are already in motion,” says Rachel Z. Miller, co-founder and Executive Director of Rozalia Project for a Clean Ocean, who will speak on the panel. “I hope that by attending, people will discover where the opportunities to make change lie.”

Miller will be joined by a diverse team that includes Dr. Tamim Younos, founder and President of the Green Water-Infrastructure Academy in Washington, DC; Dr. Rob Moir, President and Executive Director of Ocean River Institute in Cambridge, MA; Maureen Albright, Director of Engineering at TAJ Boston; and Dr. S. Atyia Martin, the Chief Resilience Officer for the City of Boston.

With their varied experiences in water management, the panel will address hot-button issues including chemical pollution, biodiversity, drinking water, stormwater, and others.
For Miller, it will be a platform to address microfibers, something she believes is the next frontier of ocean pollution.

“[Microfibers] are an ubiquitous problem,” says Miller. “This is something that absolutely affects everyone’s personal interests.”

The Water & Resiliency EcoForum, part of the 2017 Boston GreenFest, will take place on August 11th at 1:30pm in Faneuil Hall. For more information, please visit bostongreenfest.org/ecoforums.
