NorthEndWaterfront.com reviews the decision of a North Washington Street restaurant-supply company to sell its building to a developer and head for the suburbs.
Good for them. Why not cash in your investment to provide some much needed housing? Obviously their customer base wasn't making it worth it to stay there
in a couple of years the only things you will be able to buy in Boston are booze and tapas. Forget about gasoline, hardware, paint, and roast beef sandwiches. Anyone with a vehicle will be the only ones to be able to buy these sundries.
Yes it's a restaurant supply store, but they also are open to the public. It doesn't appear that way from the outside nor do they advertise it, but they really don't need to. They've been open for I think seventy years or something, make their money from restaurants. Being open to the public is just a bonus really. If you walked in there, sure it looks like you walked into a factory in the 80s but you can stock your home kitchen with smallwares and pans that'll last years

That...

Why?
Is that a shame? They didn't lose their lease, or get hit with a huge rent increase. They cashed out.
Upcoming Bridge Replacement
I wonder if they didn't want to be stranded when the bridge is torn down and being replaced.
