Thirsty Seaport on verge of getting its first full liquor store

The Wine Gallery chain is planning a new outlet in a new Seaport Boulevard building that its attorney says would be the first store to offer everything from beer to hard liquor in the South Boston Waterfront area.
At a Boston Licensing Board hearing this morning, Wine Gallery attorney Joseph Hanley said the 981-square-foot shop in the Watermark building at 89 Seaport Blvd. would meet "a pretty significant public need" in a fast-growing neighborhood without "a single full-alcohol package store."
The neighborhood is so fast growing it does not yet have a neighborhood association. The mayor's office asked the licensing board to hold off any action on the license request until after owner Marina Feldman can meet with the nearby Fort Point Neighborhood Association.

Craft Beer Cellar
Whenever I have been in Craft Beer Cellar, which isn't more than a 200 yards from Northern Ave, I was the sole person in there. The clerks looked bored out of their minds. Has a good selection, so someone is buying the beer. It seemed like they are at risk of closing up for lack of business - well from my limited visits.

Not there at peak times
You could say similar things about Mayhew wines ... but go there at rush hour when people are making their way around the area and it can be rather busy.
I try to make it over there on a mid-afternoon break.
Bees Knees
Is the Craft Cellars where Bees Knees used to be? I used to work in the area and from 5-7pm there would be a big rush for buying wine and beer and Bees Knees always wish they had hard liquor as well.
Fort Point Market
Fort Point Market on Congress is just a stones throw away and sells liquor as well of beer & wine. Nice selection of all too! But the more the merrier.

Adam still knows how the young folk talk, as the Seaport is certainly thirsty.
When I'm in the Seaport and
When I'm in the Seaport and need to buy booze I go to Sagarino's or Fort Point Market. Seaport Wine & Spirits opened on D Street recently, and there is always Social Wines not too far away.

This city needs to modernize our archaic liquor laws
Ditto the state. Many other states you can buy beer, wine and hard liquor (sorry, spirits) at any grocery store, drug stores, etc. You don't have to go to a packy. Hell, if Amazon wants to deliver booze, I'm all for it. Get my groceries, booze, whatnot delivered, cheap and fast, to my door.
Don't blame the city
Ask your state legislators - it's all an issue of state law.
