You know you're in the West Roxbury Roche Bros. in June when ...

Boston Latin balloons in West Roxbury

They put out the Boston Latin Academy and Boston Latin School graduation balloons (they had a lot more BLS balloons up).

I think that's actually closer to this Roche Bros. than the other two schools.

If we're going to wonder about that, I'd wonder more about Catholic Memorial, which you seem to hear more about locally than RL, but the reason Holy Name School stops at sixth grade is really because of the public Latin schools, not CM or RL.

Sixies have come out of Holy Name for decades (the Latin open house back in 1983 was there), but the rise of the Catholic middle schools (CM and BC High I know of, I assume the girls school have done it, too) probably did the upper grades at Holy Name in in the end.

I stand corrected.

Opted out and sent me to a montessori (non-religious) school which taught Latin as early as 2nd grade. Both of which who went to Holy Name.

They also taught French which is useless in practice and when applying to other schools.

French is useless in practice? Not saying Latin is useless, but French is very widely spoken across the globe. Unsure of how that renders it "useless" - care to explain your comment?

probably has a lot more kids from the 'burbs whereas BLS & BLA have a lot of kids who live in West Roxbury.

Grew up in the area, i know 2 kids who went to RL versus 100s of kids who went to BLA & BLS.

I was there around 4pm and the balloons were "etiam" (even, equivalent) in "felicitatem" (prosperity).

Regardless, "Certavi et vici, macte hac gloria." You have fought and you have conquered, congratulations on your victory."

It's nice that they have their own High Schools.
