Could this have been a supercell forming? It sort of has that look.
I saw it approaching and then passing over the Twin City Plaza in Somerville, myself, and was relieved when it passed quickly and without much rain. There was one lightning flash, and the wind picked up a bit, but nothing like what I'd feared when I noticed how black the underside of the cloud appeared.
