Dakota Randall took some video around 3 p.m. of the driver in the Tesla next to him speeding down the street while apparently asleep.

Two wrongs...
I'd rather people document horrendously dangerous driving even if it means they take a risk themselves. Even if they had a dashcam, it wouldn't have gotten that perspective.

I'll trust autonomous cars over human drivers any day.
There is a misconception among people
that Tesla's Autopilot system turns the vehicle into a self driving car, which it does not. Also, the system is supposed to alert the driver when they become overly inattentive (like falling asleep), however, it often does not do this in a reliable or timely manner.
The NTSB has recently investigated three crashes involving Teslas with the Autopilot system where they determined that driver inattention to driving and failure of the feedback system to respond in a timely manner were contributory factors.

These are not self driving, they're assited driving like a more advanced cruise control. This should be no different than falling asleep while driving any car.
But then again the guy who recorded this never called them in the first place. His first thought was to take out his phone and film while driving rather than alert the police. So we had two idiots not paying attention driving 70 mph down the pike. We need car reform, people have apparently forgotten how dangerous these things are.

Here's an idea: the Federal government should have to approve any technology intended for use while driving. Anything that's sort of a self-driving car but not really (license agreement says you still have to watch the road, but nobody actually does) is banned.

since 2016 Tesla's have self driving capability. Weirdly, if you keep you hands on the wheel its not illegal. However that doesn't mean you aren't responsible.

The good thing is that this individual chose the Turnpike to snooze
As long as all the vehicles are moving at roughly the same speed and there aren't too many changes in terrain forcing the vehicles to turn or accelerate or decelerate -- not too hard for even a minimal autopilot to handle the task.
Since the demise of the toll booths -- Most of the Turnpike inside of Rt-128 with the exception of the stretch between the beginning of the Pru Tunnel to the exit cluster at South Bay meets the criterion -- especially in-bound
Far better the Turnpike than some 1.5 lane road twisting and turning through Sudbury with dozens of un-controlled intersections with driveways and smaller roads
Full Disclosure -- I've driven stretches of the Turnpike "hands-free" for a couple of minutes on "Cruise Control" using an occasional glance and my legs to do the steering -- typically very early in the morning
