Cambridge Carnival to have a rally for a carnival

Cambridge Carnival is organizing a rally and meeting in support of the carnival on Wednesday starting at 6 p.m. at Cambridge City Hall. The city canceled the Sept. 8 carnival out of fears violence in Boston would spill over across the river.

After the rally at City Hall, people will march down Massachusetts Avenue to Union Baptist Church to discuss next steps:

Bring your flags, wear your Carnival tshirts, put on your headdress, bring your instruments and whistles and carry signs in support of Cambridge Carnival. Come out and show up Cambridge!

The cancellation of the parade was a travesty do to the fact that black teens from Boston were considered a threat to cause violence. Meanwhile out of town white adults battled in the streets of Boston and no one thought to cancel the Straight Pride Parade.

i am glad my community (which is usually disenfranchised) is making the effort to be polically involved.
hopefully the city dont just placate them and make a plan to postpone/change venue/work with bpd/... to make it safer.

The rally is planned by the very same organization that just a few days earlier (probably under severe pressure from the city) agreed to cancel the September 8 carnival.
