From the Chelsea Market Basket, of course.

There was milk and toast and honey
and a bowl of oranges too.

Maybe Matt Frank is too young to recognize the reference?

The song was about 15 years prior to my birth but you don't grow up in Chelsea and work in Cambridge without having people him and sing the lyrics to Chelsea Morning to you lol.

It may have been subtle but my reference to Demoulas rather than Market Basket harkened back to the era of Joni Mitchell and my use of "that" was supposed to add to how many of the older ladies I knew growing up refered to the store.

I trust that people are aware that the song was written about the Chelsea district of New York where Joni Mitchell was living at the time she wrote it.

Sometimes a play on a song title is just a play on a song title.

"I Don't Want To Go To Chelsea" isn't about having to schlep all the way out there to find a Market Basket that isn't overcrowded.

The hallmark of a great songwriter Like Joni Mitchell is that a song, even if quite specific, can be taken universally. New York's Chelsea and our Chelsea are as different as chalk and cheese, but the people of our Chelsea can easily find meaning in the song and adopt it as their own. I also like Judy Collins's version. So did the Clintons, who named their daughter after it.

We have our own "Chelsea" song by our friend Adam Ezra (Of Devil Comes to Boston semi fame) , where he sings his ode to his adopted town.
