East Boston to get boba tea

The Boston Licensing Board could vote tomorrow to grant a food-serving license to a proposed boba tea outlet in East Boston's Central Square.

Dyna Ly told the board this morning she could open her Sweet Boba outlet at 9-12 William Kelly Sq. in early October, if the board approves her request to begin serving boba tea between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. Boba tea is a sweet tea drink often made with tapioca pearls.

Both the mayor's office and the office of City Councilor Lydia Edwards supported the proposal. Nobody spoke against it.
