Hey, there! Log in / Register

This "Look Closer"-themed West Roxbury library poetry contest looks pretty dope.

Hey. Come here. I wanna tell you a story. At the Holy Name/Catholic Memorial dances I attended in my youth I never "grinded" with any boys. After one of the HN/CM dances I did find $211 on the ground when I went to buy some gum at White Hen Pantry. Westie continues its tradition of giving with this all-ages poetry contest courtesy of Friends of the West Roxbury Branch Library. The contest's theme is "Look Closer" and entries are due via mail, email, or in-person by Friday, March 29, 2019...so let me stop typing this and start writing my poem comparing Westie boys to the coyotes lurking around Centre Street. Or whatever.

Just kidding! The too-beautiful-too-be-real sunrises and sunsets in West Roxbury provide plenty of poetic fodder.

Also, if you lost dropped $211 on the ground in West Roxbury, like, 15 years ago then let me know. I'll tell you all the ways I spent the money.
