Several chances to catch at-large council candidates in forums this month

The Cedar Grove Civic Association holds a forum for the eight candidates vying for four at-large seats on the Boston City Council 7 p.m. tonight at Florian Hall, 55 Hallett St. in Dorchester.

Other forums for at-large candidates this month:

  • Wednesday, 5:30 p.m., Environmental League of Massachusetts, BPL main library in Copley Square.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 8, 6 p.m. ABCD, Thelma Burns Building, 575 Warren St. in Roxbury.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 9, 5:30 p.m., Right to the City Vote, Islamic Center of Boston Cultural Center, 100 Malcolm X. Blvd.
  • Thursday, Oct. 10, 10 a.m., Rosie's Place holds a forum, 889 Harrison Ave., Roxbury.
  • Thursday, Oct. 10, 1 p.m., Massachusetts Senior Council, Charles Street AME Church, 551 Warren St., Roxbury.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 22, 6 p.m., Madison Park Development Corp., "speed dating" format, Dewitt Center, 122 Dewitt Dr., Roxbury
  • Wednesday, Oct. 23, Multi-ward forum, Irish Social Club, 119 Park St., West Roxbury.

Flaherty has announced he will be taking 5 cars to the forum but adds that 2 of them WILL have bike racks.

I know it's fun to rag on Flaherty for his comments on the size of bus stops and his spate of personal vehicles, but I think it's important also to call attention to his plan for aerial gondolas on the South Boston waterfront
