The nugget in todays story is really the fact that Lisa Menino gets paid $102,000 a year to be an administrative assistant at City Hall.

Nice gig if you can get it.

Can we please get a new mayor already?

$137k for a cop who works a ton of overtime doesn't seem to be out of whack. $102k for an administrative assistant seems to be about 2X the going rate.

There might be a story here if the Herald could show that Menino Jr. isn't working a full caseload as a detective, or doesn't have the OSHA certifications necessary for his PT gig at Suffolk, or wasn't showing up for his stated hours, etc. etc. So far they haven't shown anything like that.

I agree, a cop making 137k is not that outrageous (well I think its pretty damn high personally, but when compared to other cops...) The bigger issue here is the 100K Administrative Assistant in City Hall who happens to be his daughter. At least the son has to get shot at to collect his money!

OK I should have read the article before commenting. Id like to see how he pulls off 40 hours a week, 20 hours of overtime, and a 20 hour side job. Maybe its possible, BUT Id like to see the breakdown.

he earned that $137k working FOUR DAYS A WEEK for the city. (Leaving him plenty of time to be well-rested for his no-doubt- strenuous responsibilities with Suffolk Construction......)`
