What Constitutes an "Age-Friendly" Bench?

All-metal benches like this one have recently replaced the wooden benches that used to sit on the Harry Ellis Dickson Park in front of Symphony Whole Foods. The plaque reads:

City of Boston
Age Friendly Bench Program

with listed sponsors Boston College, Age Strong Commisson, Public Works Department, WalkBoston, and of course Mayor Walsh.

According to the WalkBoston website, we are in the midst of an Age-Friendly Initiative, which includes "$90,000 in the city budget for a citywide bench program in fiscal year 2018-2019", with the intent of installing up to 45 of such benches. But I can't locate any information about why these benches are better suited to elderly populations than the wooden benches that they replaced.
