Amrheins in South Boston shuts down for a bit

Update: Kara Baskin reports they will re-open for breakfast and lunch on Jan. 6.
Boston Restaurant Talk reports it's unclear whether this is for the winter or for good. In October, a developer filed plans to build an R&D building on the site, but keep Amrheins on the first floor, if in a smaller space.

That's a shame. It was the only restaurant in Southie with parking. Seems like it ran its course though. I know the Mulveys tried updating the menu and decor and the could've sold out years ago. Once they close its tough to open again in a new building, remember Jimmy's Harborside tried and failed. Thanks for the great meals and memories Mulveys and your staff.
