Boston firefighters responded around 1 p.m. to the Mass. Mutual building under construction next to 50 Liberty Dr. for a fire in the garage that sent thick black smoke into the air:

Left for lunch during the #AMS100 and there’s a building fire on the corner of Fan Pier Boulevard and Bond Drive in the seaport district of Boston. Appears to be happening in a construction site underneath an apartment complex. #Boston @ChrisGNBCBoston @NECN @ABC pic.twitter.com/ndZ8CxP0sH

Yikes, that's in the same
Yikes, that's in the same complex as the building I work in. The 5 Fan Pier buildings have a common underground parking garage, which will also extend under the Mass. Mutual building when it's completed. So the fire was evidently under 50 Liberty, the condo building by the water, and the smoke went out the Mass. Mutual foundation hole. There's a sheet pile wall separating the garage from the hole, but I guess that was still the easiest exit for the smoke.
