Many front-line healthcare workers to get hourly hazard pay

WBUR reports how action by a union worked to get some 6,500 workers at state facilities more pay - $5 to $10 an hour depending on position - in the face of a deadly pandemic.

Incidentally, I saw yesterday that Instacart has increased the default tip for its shopper/drivers to 20% - a welcome move since they, too, are putting themselves at risk.

Instacart needs to either hide the tip from the shopper/driver until after the job is complete, or take away the customer's option to change the tip after the fact. Otherwise it invites abuse such as the attached article, in which customers lure shoppers/drivers with a promised big tip, and then reduce to zero

I like being able to set the tip after the fact based on the quality of service, which means I think it should be hidden from the driver until after the transaction is complete.

but not at a Hospital. You cannot believe how happy I am Hospital workers are getting a raise.
Seriously. Empathy works both ways. I feel stronger when people who are trying to sort me out are happy.
I have experienced nothing as drastic as Covid-19.
Unlike cancer you can't just cut it out.
