This list of 67 closures only covers 1 December - 24 December. I culled this list from Boston Restaurant Talk; (p) denotes a permanent closure, otherwise the closure was announced as temporary.

I'm pleasantly surprised that the restaurants in the square have been able to stay open. We've tried to order take out a bit more than usual but I would have thought at least a few would have mothballed at least. Fingers crossed for all of them to make it.

After years of being on the side discussions on a lot of this stuff I feel really weird being on the outside looking in.

In my opinion if local governments want to keep even a portion of their restaurant portfolios they need to make a real commitment. That means looking at taxes for these businesses and their landlords, if you aren't producing money how can you pay these bills? That means using money from local meals tax to reinvest into these businesses. Find ways to get those that are still open plugged into meal prep programs to get some extra money flowing.

That's just the tip of the iceberg in my opinion.
