Must have made quite the scraping sound

Calls to mind the recent Globe Spotlight series about the national highway administration. Nobody will actually be held responsible for this, even though the driver and the company they work for are probably both culpable. The driver will stay on the road, and the company will get no more than a slap on the wrist. They wait until somebody gets killed before they do anything.

With smartphones and GPS, there's gotta be an app for that. It's inexcusable. It's also baffling that insurers won't refuse drivers and companies who present these kind of risks. Who suffers? Anyone who depends on that train line, and anyone who pays taxes to maintain the bridge. More handouts to American car culture.
