That was no simple little quirk: Orange Line stopped by emergency track work

The day dawned bright and sunny, except on the Orange Line, where at 5:29 a.m., the MBTA announced "Shuttle buses replace train service between Malden Center and Community College due to rail maintenance work near Assembly."

This was followed at 6:36 by:

Track department is currently on scene making repairs, updates to follow.

And finally, at 7:19, the T reported everything was back to what passes for normal on the Orange Line these days.

A rail cracked because of the changes in temperature, which, of course, is not something that ever happens here.

Joe P?

Given that it occurred at 0529, and that there is overnight work taking place on that section of track, I wouldn't be surprised if the crews were out and messed something up and needed extra time.

But that's just a guess.

True Orange Line riders either work from home or get driven around.

1. The buses at Sullivan that said "SULLIVAN STA" with no bus number
2. Why the countdown timers on the orange line were not displaying countdown time
3. Why the 111 had so many dropped trips this morning (and severely over crowded buses, for ones that did come)

Still between CC and Malden? I was on a NB train around 720 this morning (to Sullivan).

. o O ( still took me 1hr and 45m to get to work today.. I left at 6am, arrived at 745. On a trip that normally takes 50mins) O o .
