National Guard tells soldier he's sitting this round out as it investigates whether he promised to shoot protesters
The Massachusetts National Guard has put one of its own on "inactive" status while it looks into whether he actually posted a message on social media that read:
Fuck your riots. Bullshit ass motherfuckin shit.
You're all stupid and I can't wait to shoot you tomorrow night.
The Guard reported yesterday that's not the sort of thing it wants to see its armed personnel saying during a highly charged time:
The Massachusetts National Guard has taken immediate action to address a Soldier’s inflammatory and divisive comments, and he has been placed on inactive status and will not serve in any capacity while this matter is under investigation.
The Massachusetts National Guard has a proven track record of fair and equitable service and takes pride in our diversity and inclusionary practices to support our residents in every community, and has no tolerance for this insensitive behavior.
The Guard, which sent 30 soldiers to downtown Boston Sunday night and additional units to the area yesterday, adds the man was not on duty during any of last night's protests.

This is why.....
I was saying on earlier threads that the National Guard really shouldn’t be constituted as the “militia” in terms of 2nd Amendment purposes. This is why.
Not an expert but curious...
Isn't this grounds for punishment for conduct unbecoming a solider? If he was tweeting about doing this to say, Iragis or some other country, it would be just as repugnant. Generally speaking I would prefer people who are in the military to be in there because they want to serve and protect, not just because they needed money for school and couldn't get a job at Wendy's.
Remember when Trump tweeted to the leader of Iran not to abuse the people or the protesters? He is encouraging this now because he only cares about control and re-election. He will say or do just about anything to stay at the center of the news.
if you really wanted to punish him, once he leaves the white house, never mention his name. Never do follow ups on him. Always refer to him as 45th Potus or 'previous president' - it would drive him nuts.
What is the "militia" then?
Some imaginary band of untainted heroes?
It’s part of a longer discussion on another thread...
And I don’t think there is a right answer to it, but a 2nd Amendment and a militia is something which is going to protect you from the police and national guard when they come after you and your 1st Amendment rights....
good for the MAANG
Good for them for acting quickly on this.
I'm sad we need them, but appreciate them stepping up to help when it is needed
We don't need them
Their presence is making an already tense situation even worse.
Let the weekend warriors go home.
Attack the soldier but no reporting on Franklin Park shooting?
Unfortunate comment but very understandable sentiment from this soldier. I thank him for his service. Sorry if I missed it, but has there been any reportage on whatever happened at American Legion and Blue Hill Ave after the peaceful protest? I know the Homicide Unit was called "just in case." Not to mention the other calls for shots fired in the general area after dark. This isn't a critcism of independent UHub as much as the well funded establishment media. All lives matter.
Ok, whatever.
This was from a friend this morning:
More explicitly...
I know this is what you're saying, but I'll just be even more explicit:
The ones in all caps aren't wrong, but those in quotes are regularly taken to mean a focus on that particular cause now. Nobody mistakes them to mean that only that cause matters. The same should be true of BLM, but people often ignore that.
If you're shouting down someone saying BLM by saying "All Lives Matter", then you should think about whether you really mean that all lives matter equally.
As a former active duty Army
As a former active duty Army Officer who served in Afghanistan I feel it is important to respond to this uninformed comment. That soldier's comments are completely out of line and do not adhere to the Army Values or good order and discipline. It is not at all understandable and is quite troubling that the soldiers possessed the lack the maturity and training to think like that. Kudos to the National Guard leadership for acting swiftly and hopefully further administrative action is taken. Also kudos to Universal Hub for reporting this. It is an important story to report because it helps re-establish trust in our leaders in a time where trust in leadership is in short supply. This was the right thing to do, and the public needs to know about it.
Fuck off
And die you racist pretend-to-be cop.
Triggered!
Wow, you seem like a great person. Glad to see you have so much support via likes on this site. Lots of great thinking people in this forum.
You too.
You too.
And you are the LAST one around here to talk about being "triggered", LOL. Hillarious.
The police and national guard work for us. They are paid for by our taxes and ultimately under the control of elected civilian authorities. This was original intent, and for good reason. Somewhere around 2001 they seem to have forgotten this. A new wave of DAs and AGs is setting them straight.
The undisciplined thuggery era is coming to a close.
Another Thing
I'm not a big fan of guns. I don't own them or think most other should. Nothing about the past two weeks changes that.
That said, it's clear the 2nd amendment is specifically to ensure citizens have weapons to defend themselves in cases where the government becomes hostile to its own people -- exactly what that National Guard idiot was suggesting.
I hope everyone can see the how serious things are when members of the military (and the President) start threatening US citizens.
My taxes pay your salary!
My taxes pay your salary!
It's impressive how you can be right and be an elitist Karen at the same time.
It's impressive...
...how you can type words and have absolutely no connection to reality.
Please tell the class
1. Who cops work for?
2. Who the NG works for?
3. Where money for their activities comes from?
If not from the citizenry, then who is paying? Russian oligarchs, perhaps?
The fact that you conflate "The police and national guard work for us. They are paid for by our taxes and ultimately under the control of elected civilian authorities." with "MY taxes pay your salary" shows me that you either lack some really basic grammar skills, or have a fundamental inability to separate the collective from the individual.
The party of “love and tolerance” is at it again
:)
She's a person...
...not a party. Grow up.
Thanks for your observation...
I’ll give it a shot. Might need some guidance from you occasionally.
Tolerance?
Tolerance is for bicycle parts.
In a sociological context, it is about things that someone can't change or shouldn't be an issue. But acceptance is a better word for that.
Acceptance means accepting that people can be different from you in ways that really don't have anything to do with you and that is okay.
TOLERANCE DOES NOT MEAN TOLERANCE FOR RACISM AND STUPIDITY AND THE PEOPLE WHO EXPRESS THEM ON THE DAILY.
Paraphrasing my mom, I don't have such an open mind that my brain falls out. Stupidity and racism are intolerable.
Agreed...
Agree with everything you said.
Had to double check who the poster was because the word “fuck” wasn’t included and nobody was called racist or told to die. See? We can all unite!
And therein lies the problem
If he was a protester announcing his plans to shoot a bunch of cops, you'd be all over him as an example of how the movement is violent and must be stopped. But because he's acting law enforcement, you think it's all good.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present you a Fox News viewer.
I will also posit that he's a One America News Network
viewer. Because occasionally, like once every new moon, Fox News shows a tiny glimmer of serious journalism and ethical responsibility, and doesn't bring enough Alex-Jones-volume fountains of batshit.
The counter-argument is that most people I know that watch Fox News are so old that they own feature phones and avoid computers as scary new-fangled machines. Maybe he has a great-grandson transcribing posts into uHub for him.
Huge favor to ask....
Can you recommend some good news sources?
I realize only those that espouse left wing views are acceptable and any deviation from the narrative is strictly forbidden, so any recommendations to help us “racist” deplorable types to get some real and unbiased news would be helpful.
I don’t want none a’ that thar redneck stuff I been watchin’ and listenin’ to in ma truck drivin’ ‘round the farm......know whut I mean?
Thanks in advance.
Although one could quibble with the specifics
Although one could quibble with the specifics of how any given news organization is rated, the overall framework is pretty solid: https://www.adfontesmedia.com/?v=402f03a963ba Click through for the interactive version
I like the idea...
Thanks for the link. Never heard of these guys and definitely some quibbling at first glance, but the idea is great. Will check it out.
Although I would quibble
Although I would quibble slightly with the idea that Mother Jones, CNN, and MSNBC are somehow less reliable than the New York Post, this appears to be surprisingly accurate! I would also point out that some of these publications espouse a much wider political gamut than others (ahem, the Wall Street Journal, whose journalism is great but whose editorial page is occasionally unreadable).
MSNBC...
Had a good live clip recently of their reporter, standing in MN with a fire raging behind him, insisting that most of the evening’s activities went well...
CNN and Mother Jones speak for themselves, although the Post isn’t full of angels either.
Facts...
Facts have a liberal bias.
An opinion piece by Paul Krugman
My post asked about unbiased sources, and you present an opinion piece by “Never Trump” Krugman with a straight face.
Well, there you have it. I’m convinced. He’s always been a neutral source. Can we get Hillary to talk about how people need to respect the outcomes of an election? How about Biden to educate us on how bad racism is?
This is beautiful. Thank you for the laugh today.
The reflexive thank you for your service denotes
feelings of inadequacy. Do we thank Lee Harvey Oswald, the DC Sniper or Timothy McVeigh for their service? Everyone wearing a uniform is not perfect and those in the military know that all too well. Those that use their service to suggest anyone without service or disagreeing with them politically is un-American, contribute to division. Division by its definition is un American and lethal to good military order. There is politics within each military branch right down to those in combat field service. You'll be shocked to learn that there are wing nuts, liberals, country fans, rappers, metal heads, ass kissers, slackers and dumb asses in every unit. But they're your misfits and you accept them. The comments by this guardsman show that he has been away from service too long.
And what time was that?
If you scroll down the UHub homepage, you'll see reports in several shootings and reports of gunfire. So I might have missed it.
Are you sure it was a shooting? Because the homicide unit was called in for a car rollover around midnight on BHA.
this soldier
Needs a different job, for now just serve in another way.
his rant is incoherent. i
his rant is incoherent. i think he should work for n.g. in an administrative capacity.
i honestly hope him the best.
Willing to bet a lot that
Willing to bet a lot that that dude was drunk. Smells like drunken nonsense to me
Can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding
A racist drunk is a racist person who just lets it out when drunk.
I think this soldier needs a complete evaluation before returning to any sort of duty.
Yes totally understand that.
Yes totally understand that. Was not defending it. However how many times do drunk people make drunken plans with people only to realize when sober that they don't like that person at all. Theres a reason why people who quit drinking tend to lose friendships and beliefs. They weren't real. But again to get back on point, no issue with screening this guy if not more. It's incumbent upon them to do so.
Didn't we see this guy in the
Didn't we see this guy in the movie Earthquake?
I believe Marjoe Gortner played him.
