RMV to re-open several branches, but road tests remain suspended through at least Friday

The Registry of Motor Vehicles said tonight it will re-open several of its offices tomorrow, including Haymarket, but not Watertown (or Roslindale, which was already shut due to damage from a burst pipe), but says people who can should continue to conduct their RMV business online.

However, the Registry says people who visit the offices should expect delays, or might even be turned away, because the offices are now limiting the total number of people allowed inside in order to enforce a minimum distance between people.

Road testing will resume only after cleaning, personal protective equipment and social distancing protocols have been put in place to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 transmission for permit holders, road test examiners and others who accompany permit holders for their tests.

Learner's permits issued between March 1 and April 30 will remain active 60 days past their printed expiration dates.
