Boston cop under investigation for possible 1/6 role
By adamg on Tue, 05/18/2021 - 12:22pm
The Globe reports on the BPD investigation into whether Officer Joe Abasciano had anything to do with the failed Capital putsch on Jan. 6.
Abasciano is a retired Marine and a member of the Ward 20 Republican committee, part of a slate elected last spring on a platform that included being even Trumpier than the incumbent slate and demanding the return of free paper bags at local supermarkets and death to bike lanes on Centre Street in West Roxbury.

I wonder how this BPD
I wonder how this BPD investigation will go.
It all comes down to, "Did he go in?"
It's pretty obvious that he was in DC that day, but that's not a crime. If he went into the Capital then he must be kicked off the force. The Globe story didn't offer any evidence that he broke in, so we'll have to see if there are photos out there of him.
If he had his cellphone
If he had his cellphone turned on, they'll know whether he was in the Capitol building; no photos needed.
If he had GPS on...
...or if he took some pics.
If his cell phone was on and
If his cell phone was on and connected to a mobile network, we will know if he was inside the building or not. The structure of such a building requires a full cell network to keep everyone's phones working inside, which means instead of a cell tower that serves a wide area, your phone is connecting to many cell towers that could only be connected to inside the stone building.

"murder"
From the article:
Funny how killing by a cop becomes murder when it's directed at one of your side.
There's nothing funny about people sworn to uphold the
law being involved in a murderous attempt to stop the peaceful transfer of power after a free and fair election.
There's no "our side vs. theirs" on this issue: nobody on either side has been advocating for the killing of cops, last I looked. That is, until Mango Mussolini's insurrection mob took it on themselves to kill cops that stood in their way. They all deserve to be tried as traitors, in my book.
Do you understand...
Do you understand the difference between "killing by a cop" (my words) and "killing of cops" (your words)?
"Back the Blue" MAGAts like this guy justify killing by a cop when the target is the wrong kind of person, as they see such things. When it's a fellow MAGAt attempting to break into the Speaker's Lobby at the head of a mob baying for blood, apparently it's murder.

Sorry, lbb, I misunderstood your post. It looks like
we're on the same page here.
Ok let’s play that game
Political violence is okay when religious conservatives like you and Osama bin Laden do it?
I don't think that's what lbb is saying
Lbb can correct me, but it seems like that comment is criticizing MAGAts who say somebody killed by the cops deserves it, up until the person who dies after being shot by a cop is another MAGAt, in which case it's murder and so a capital offense.
Exactly
Exactly this. Was it really that hard to understand?
Not when it is clearly stated
But had I not noticed who posted it (you) I would have thought it was a right wing statement, given your phrasing.
We all have bad days at the keyboard.
If you are anti bike lane
If you are anti bike lane just remember that you are on the same side as this nut job loser who is a traitor to the United States.

When you have a hammer
All you see is nails.
Please put your hammer down and tell us what happened in your life that has made you so bitter.
That's a really cogent point.
Mussolini made the trains run on time. So that means anyone in favor of making the T efficient must be "on the same side" as the real 1930's Fascists.
Sing, Johnny One Note, out loud!
Poor Johnny one note sang out with gusto
And just overlorded the place
Poor Johnny one note, yelled willy nilly
Until he was blue in the face
For holding one note was his ace
