As Boston gets all steamy, the Green Line is less than dreamy

No train service on the Green Line

The sign says it all. Photo by KWAPT.

Of course the Green Line would pick one of the hottest days of the year, when more people are actually wanting to use it, to develop some sort of "power problem" that would shut the line downtown.

At 8:18 a.m., Nicole reported:

Train got stuck at Arlington. I was just on it. Had to get off and walk the tracks to get to the platform. It's a mess.

We have poured $billions into this system year after year after year.

This is more than a fiscal issue, it is fundamentally a competency.

MBTA/MASSDot need to be reformed to focus on fundamental safety/operational issues for both the subway and bus in Boston and the inner suburbs.

Everything else should be spun off to RTAs.

We need to simplify the mission for MBTA/MASSDot for them to succeed.

That sounds like the best idea since the Boston Redevelopment Authority was replaced by the Boston Planning and Development Agency.

Current MBTA management is clearly not up to the task. A good management practice under these circumstances is to limit responsibility to a more limited, achievable, objectives.

Call it the state's largest RTA and farm out the other activities; construction, ferries, regional rail to other parts of MASSDot or separate RTAs.

We cannot simply continue to throw $billions at a management team that cannot do the job.

It's never a good public relations move when you leave the hot as hell underworld to see Transit Police and managers sitting in their air conditioned SUV's.

Make 'em ride the T, every day, on their own dime. It wouldn't solve every problem, but I think it would help.

It is bad enough the T stations themselves are the 7th layer of hell....

We need more qualified workers!! Just because you're families worked there for years doesn't make you the best candidate! People need to be held accountable. This will never happen tho never never ever!!

I'll put my mask on when you put the AC on. Can the MBTA not afford airconditioning?
