Convicted pimp and rapist charged with hammer attack on senior citizen in Dorchester

Leoney

Boston Police report arresting Michael Leoney, 58, of Dorchester, on charges he used a hammer to smash the shin of a senior citizen on Columbia Road at Washington Street last Sunday afternoon.

Leoney lives at 131 Washington St., about a half block from where the attack took place, according to state records.

Police say they were led to Leoney by tips after WCVB and WBZ aired reports on the attack. He is scheduled for arraignment Monday in Dorchester District Court.

In 1981, Leoney was convicted on a total of two counts of aggravated rape and two counts of rape.

In 2012, he and his brother were arrested on charges they ran a sex-for-hire ring, with Leoney handling White women and his brother Hispanic women, with both using intimidation and force to keep the women under control. He pleaded guilty in 2016 and was sentenced to seven years in state prison, which means he would have been out by last weekend because of credit for time he spent behind bars between his arrest and his plea.

Innocent, etc.

Dude needs to sent back to Jail.. now. He's a menace.

What kind of person does this.

Convicted & sent to jail for 7 years
Gets out of Jail
Wakes up days later after being a free man and decides that he's going to hit some random old guy in the shins.

You can't fix stupid apparently.

But I'm not necessarily buying the "random" bit - he may have decided in his fucked up excuse for a brain that the old guy was somehow responsible for his time in jail.

And not his own violent stupid rapist pimp self.

Guys like this go beyond any hope of rehabilitation -- can we bring back banishment?

You want to ship him off to Australia? What does banishment mean to you?

Not that we would know, though, since our current system is focused on punishment and not rehabilitation.

Is also possible this guy doesn't care about jail or being charged with a crime and it just figured it would be "fun" to attack someone, particularly someone who is unlikely to fight back.

As a former victim on their family, Adam, you didn’t mention his other brother Shaun Leaoney. He pleaded guilty of trafficking children from Boston to Florida. They are violent men who pleaded out. You are also mistaken with who their typical victims are. They trafficked girls from the local high schools in the area. Many of them black girls under the age of 16. I do read your reporting all of the time but as someone who knows their family personally do to being victimized by them I wanted to mention the reason why they continue to get out is because they snitch on other traffickers get reduces sentences. There should be at least a 25 year minimum required for pimping and pandering.

But, yes, I did refer to him. He's not charged in this case, so didn't think he needed to be called out that explicitly.

In any event, I am sorry you had to go through what you did.

No wonder their employees were nominated and won several awards on tonight's New England Emmy awards.

I'm still curious what prompted this (without a rehash of the "justify vs explain" argument.") Something set this guy off, which isn't to say it was something the average person would consider logical--maybe the victim was wearing a tshirt the attacker hated, who knows. But something set him off.....

Do not blame the victim.

I'm not blaming the victim for wearing a shirt this dude doesn't like (or whatever it was). That's insane. I'm just wondering what set this guy off. Cuz something did, even if it makes zero sense to the rest of us.

Really nice.

Hopefully he'll have a nice stay in a nice place far away from the rest of us nice people.
