It's a Christmas miracle: We got our new Yellow Pages today
By adamg on Sat, 12/25/2021 - 1:16pm
Went out to throw some salt down, discovered it is now pouring, at least here in the Roslindale foothills, put the salt away, then looked down the steps to see we'd gotten a Christmas delivery of the Verizon Yellow Pages, now approaching Famous Jewish Sports Legends size.
But now we can throw away the equally small knock-off version we got a couple weeks ago.

Got ours earlier in the week
here in the southern suburbs. Two copies on my lawn even!
Perfect...
...timing for those of us out of town for the holiday.
Ditto for "north shore"
I remember when they used to have one separate one for each town. I only kept it around this time to take a look at who the ever loving frog advertises in them!
Hallelujah, there is a god.
Hallelujah, there is a god.
Haven't gotten one of those in a while
I always keep the most recent one, so I just looked at it -- June 2019. It had 292 Business White Pages and only 216 Yellow Pages.
I stopped being a Verizon customer in October, so it's possible that they won't deliver any more phone books to me.
its not verizon
Its not Verizon that decides. If you have phone service, you should be dropped a copy regardless. I think this was some decision eons ago when other LECs starting offering phone service. Verizon would keep publishing the directories and distribute them to people who still had phone service, regardless if you were a Verizon customer o rnot.
I haven't gotten a phone book in ages, but I called a long time ago and asked them not to deliver one.
It's a Festivus miracle.

Not for nothing, but if these
Not for nothing, but if these yellow pages are up to date, then you're looking at the more established financially stable cream of the crop businesses who are surviving Covid.
Who publishes the knock-off Yellow Pages?
I'm surprised there is any market for that anymore.
Perfect--I have this chair
Perfect--I have this chair here with a short leg and now I can use it again.
Happy New Year, Cybah
I saw a comment from you in Adam's year-end 311 roundup.
To the effect that the people you see naked in public are rarely attractive.
Reminded me of when I was driving down Cambridge street at 2:00AM and saw an enormous naked man walking down the street.
I headed down Staniford, I think, to the X-way and saw a cop on detail.
I slowed down and told him I knew he probably didn't care but there was a huge man (body size, didn't see the parts) sauntering down Cambridge.
Great BPD response: "It's always a guy..."
