Touchy-feely counselors paid for by BPS wouldn't leave student leaders alone until they cried or screamed

The Globe details the reasons BPS has fired a group it paid for years to help coordinate the Boston Student Advisory Council - but only after students finally began to complain publicly.

I can't understand why they were hired.

Impressive article from the Globe. Seems like they did some real reporting here.

Obviously young people should have mental health resources if they or their parents want it, but not this RC stuff. I mean, I'm sure RC is helpful for some people, but it shouldn't be used with children and certainly not within the context of the power dynamics at play in this group. Glad the program is gone, but unfortunately there is no real accountability here for the people that caused harm. I suppose there is still time for that, but I'm not holding my breath.

The fact that this person from JP was unlicensed to practice any kind of mental health stuff is unacceptable when working with minors within an institutional setting.

I hope she gets sued and loses everything. What a deeply terrible person she must be to ask minority students to perform their anger for her edification.

RC group tells parents that their kids don't have learning disabilities or need mental health help. That is the schools way to keep the kids in special ed programs and not succeed. This RC program though will put these kids back on track.....

And then so on and so on.

This reminds me of the "Dean of Students" who was dealing drugs and shot a student. I honestly don't see why parents didn't burn the school to the ground. There should have been a goddamed riot. There should be this time too. It's outrageous!!! Incompetent!!! Idiotic!!! Embarrassing!!!

Apples and oranges. The dean was most definitely licensed and approved by BPS.

You do hear about them all the time.

The BPS is humongous and I'm sure every school has some stuff going on which never gets to the public.

is woefully lacking. This is just one egregious example.

acting Mayor aware of this "counseling" firm prior to the events leading up to the disclosure? Had any previously lent support to or sought the political support of the individuals running the "counseling" firm in question?
