The Archdiocese of Boston's housing-development wing recently told the BPDA it will soon file detailed plans for a three-building residential complex at the intersection of Tremont Street and Melnea Cass Boulevard that will include 217 residential units and the renovation of St. Katharine Church's ministry space.
The BPDA had selected the archdiocese's Planning Office for Urban Affairs in November, 2021, to develop the largely vacant 2.5-acre parcel.
In its letter of intent, POUA says its Drexel Village project will include a "signature residential building" with 140 mixed-income apartments, a second building with 62 units, split between apartments and condos, and an addition to the existing St. Katharine building with 15 apartment
POUA says the project will also include commercial and social-services space - including an ABCD daycare - as well as 1.3 acres of publicly accessible greenspace, including a connection to the open-space network the city is planning along Tremont Street to the P-3 parcel across from BPD headquarters, which is also slated for development.
Also proposed: 60 parking spaces in an underground garage.
