Manna falls from heaven in Jamaica Plain - well, a sesame bagel, at any rate

In the Jamaica Plain Facebook group, a JP resident reports that a woman minding her own business while eating dinner on Vee Vee's patio yesterday got bonked in the shoulder by a sesame bagel that fell from the sky. And it hurt, although not enough for her to seek medical attention. Speculation centers on a gull unable to maintain control of a bagel it had swiped from the trash at the nearby Dunkin' Donuts.

I’d say that Dunkin is for the birds but evidently even they don’t want to eat it.

Perhaps the bird realized that it had forgotten its coffee on the counter at Dunk's and turned back.

Quick, call Shannon Liss-Riordan. A case like that is right up her alley.

the group is "private".

It's unfortunate, the thousands of bagel-related FOIA requests citizens must make every year, in order to shake loose information of such great public interest.

You're not missing a single bite of the story. OK, there's a photo of the woman holding the bagel that slammed into her, but I hope you can imagine the bemused look on her face.

As for why it's private, I think it was initially open, but then Facebook changed something that basically made neighborhood groups have to make themselves closed (so that's probably how I got in initially, since I'm not a JP resident).

I'm dubious, I feel like the official story has some holes in it.

At the risk of sounding like the opening lines of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" (but don't worry, no moose was involved), the photo is actually of Vee Vee's Kristen Valachovic holding the bagel (with said bemused look), next to the table where her customer was sitting when hit by a hurtling bagel.

"Rainy with a Chance of Meatballs" Coincidence? I don't think so.
