Board puts plans to double size of three-family house on G Street on hold
The Zoning Board of Appeal today denied without prejudice plans to add three new units to the three-family home at 80 G St. in South Boston.
The board agreed with City Councilors Ed Flynn and Michael Flaherty that developer Matt Ramey needs to spend more time talking with neighbors about his plans to add three new units. Board member Katie Whewell made the motion to deny the plans without prejudice - which means Ramey can submit new plans within a year - after saying the board itself only got his final plans last night.
Ramey's architect, Gary Hendren, and attorney, Marc LaCasse, said the new addition would be built in the same architectural style as the current building, important, they said, in a neighborhood that has a strong historic character. The units would be sold as condos.

Really adds to the neighborhood charm!
Oh come on...
It's currently a 3 car wide, single floor garage on the side street behind the house.
They want to replace the whole thing with enough room to house 3 more units of living space. At most from the street, it looks like it might block a bathroom window and a window that is already blocked by furniture inside the neighbor's house...and that's assuming that it'll butt right up against the neighbor.
Like, fuck "more time talking to the neighbors". I bet if that garage was on its own plot, this wouldn't even be outside current zoning/appeal.

I agree with you, but that being said
you probably oughta get your plans in front of the zoning board a little earlier than literally the night before your scheduled hearing, no?
Yes
I just think it shouldn't even BE in front of the appeal board.
“Spend more time talking with neighbors”
aka Ed and Michael haven’t received their envelopes full of cash yet
