Free rides on the Fairmount Line in October for CharlieCard holders

The MBTA announced today that the Fairmount Line will be free between Oct. 14 and 29, at least to people with CharlieCards - as a possible replacement for the Mattapan Line and Ashmont service on the Red Line, which will be shut then for track repairs. The T will also be running shuttle buses along the Mattapan and Ashmont lines then.

So all the 127 people a day who would either use Mattapan Station or Blue Hills Station can ride for free. That's so, like, cool.

Fix the F'ing tracks and stop putting out press releases where people who have already paid their fare can ride for "free".

At least it will be totally safe for those two weeks!

No one gives a shit about the fact that the T is broken--at least on the Ashmont Line. We're on our own, and not even the riders seem to care enough to really do anything.

45-minute headways on the Fairmount Line are about the same as what the T has been running on the Ashmont branch lately.
