Red Line has more snarls due to dead train at Charles

The MBTA reports 20 minute delays on the Red Line that won't be helped by the elimination of slow zones because a train is deader than a doorknob at Charles/MGH, and, say, whatever happened to those brand-new Red Line trains, anyway?
The long suffering UHub photographer who snapped the teeming hordes at Park Street, and who got stuck in both morning and afternoon delays yesterday, checked in at 5 p.m.:
Park Street now…no update on train that should have been here 10 minutes ago.

On why not to ride on the oldest and broken-down subway system.
*long sigh*

That picture gives me claustrophobia
I wonder how many said "screw this" and booked an Uber.
Probably a lot
A similar thing happened to the Red Line on Wednesday night around 7 or 7:30. After 20 minutes of standing on a packed train that was "standing by", a ton of people just got off and either headed for the commuter rail or grabbed an uber. Uber prices surged for a while as a result.
I'm guessing many booked Uber or Lyft
Cuz at 6:15pm in Longwood, I waited almost 30 minutes to catch an avl. Uber and the pricing structure was def higher than a dry Thursday late rush hour time frame.
