Thousands lose power along Centre Street in Jamaica Plain

Update: JP Licks reports its ice cream survived.

Eversource reports nearly 3,000 businesses and homes lost power along Centre Street and South Huntington Avenue in Jamaica Plain at 10:10 a.m.

The company was able to quickly restore power to about 2,110 businesses and homes within a few minutes, but reported that roughly 880 customers might remain without power until as late as 1:45 p.m.

Seth Knoll reports among the affected businesses are several stores along Centre Street, including JP Licks, which depends on electricity to keep its products salable.

Jeremy reports that near Stony Brook, the power came back on in a couple of minutes.
