Yeah, the plan to have Sumner Tunnel drivers take the Blue Line instead will work out just fine

Crush at a Blue Line stop at 5:10 p.m.

Tina StGelais Kelly posted some photos from the scene at the State Street Blue Line stop at 5:10 p.m., which make her doubt the Blue Line can possibly handle any of those motorists the state is urging to take the Blue Line when the Sumner shuts on July 5 for repairs:

The blue line is a mess, MBTA. Waited 20 min to get on you cannot do this when Sumner tunnel closes is this is unacceptable. We have MassDOT telling everyone to take the MBTA but you have not enough trains to get the regular rush-hour in and out before the closure!

It hasn't been shared enough that every 30 minutes the ferry goes back and forth. It could alleviate some of that crowding on the Blue Line.....it's running #TakeTheFerry

I enjoy taking the ferry but it is not a realistic daily solution unless you live a reasonable walking distance from Maverick -- maybe add a few minutes if you have a bike or a bluebike (which are sometimes empty at Maverick)

Sumner Tunnel closes every single day for a couple of months.
plan A : Not enough mbta Ferries to handle the crowds
Plan B: if someone is rushed to a Boston hospital from Eastie, that person in the ambulance will have to wait in traffic like every other smuck on the Meridian Street bridge .
Plan C: During Construction of the Sumner Tunnel, Massdot still has done nothing to control Rodents which are seen in daytime outside the Streets surrounding entrance of tunnel.

Was just at Logan last week and apparently if you take the ferry you get some kind of ticket to skip the security line? At least somebody is trying to think out of the box with a solution that's operational (for some)

Yeah the T said the 112, 114, 116, 117 and 111 are all free. The thing about it is... they skip so many trips that you often wait 20m or more for a bus (on routes that have normal headways of < 7m).

Of course, second only to MassDOT's instructions to send all the g-d traffic from 1A over Chelsea City streets to the Tobin and 16. Sending more cars on already clogged streets..

Why are these bus routes only free in Chelsea?
What about Revere residents who also utilize these routes?

I am going to assume its the entire route.

Looks like the middle of the cab is actually empty.

I ride this effing thing daily and can confirm you cannot get on at Aquarium outbound during rush hour, so I'm guessing it's going to get worse if it's at State. Service has been getting monumentally worse over the past year with less service and more riders.

No, it doesn't.

Pre-Covid, I was a daily Orange Line commuter and often ran into this same scene on the way home. People crowd in and stop right inside the doors, leaving open space further into the train because they don't want to get trapped inside at their stop.
Usually people just keep shoving to fill that space, so this picture might just be before that happened.
