Celtics will board Duck Boats on Friday, after the heat breaks

The city announced our five-year Duck Boat parade drought will end Friday at 11 a.m., when the Celtics head on out for a triumphal procession from Causeway Street in front of the Garden. The parade will go by City Hall Plaza and the Common via Tremont Street, turn onto Boylston and end at the Hynes.

Only a drought because they didn't bring out the Duck Boats for the Boston Pride (2021 & 2022) and the Boston Renegades (2023).
No Disrespect
However, turn out would not be that great.
You might merit a flatbed and a quick roll around the block at Copley Square.
By the way, the New England Free Jacks were also champions of their league last year.
No boats for them either. It's because the popularity is not the same. You want parity in parades, get 60k a week to a Renegades game and 18k a game at Tsongas for the Pride.
Have fun on the T everyone on Friday! You will see more vomit than a Cancun night club during Spring Break.

Plus, it's not gonna be THAT much cooler. Peak heat is supposed to be Thursday with a gradual cooldown after that. It'll still be plenty warm on Friday.

Why the “reverse” routing this time around? Past parades have started at the Hynes and ended at City Hall Plaza.
Also, people should be ready for the usual cluster on the commuter rail that results on parade days, especially coming into Boston in the morning.

You know, where they won the championship? Red Sox parades go Fenway to City Hall, Patriots parades don't have a natural starting point, so they largely follow the same route. But for Celtics or Bruins, it makes sense to start on Causeway Street.

But the Hynes still seems a very odd place to end the parade.
Did they consider schools at all?
Last 1/2 day of school for BPS, with schools getting out during the parade -- did they consult with the schools at all?
Take A Deep Breath
1. Celtics fandom extends beyond the corporate boundaries of the city.
2. If any teachers give a hoot about teaching on the last half day, you have found a unicorn. Treasure it but also question it. After teaching in a hot school today and Thursday, I don't think any tests are being given and having a midweek holiday after 178 days already means teachers have checked out.
3. How many schools will be impacted by this? A Few. The Eliot, the Quincy, Snowden, Arts Academy? They will make it. Kids are resilient.
4. If any parents are really concerned about academics on June 21st and the impact that the day might be disrupted and their 3rd grader won't get into Harvard, drink a cocktail and calm down.
5. I went to the C's parade in 1976. My first grade class went to the Swan Boats and the old agricultural fair on the Common and we took the T. Then a parade went by and we followed it up to City Hall Plaza. We were more concerned about the water in the old fountain by the JFK building while people cheered in the background. We then took the Red Line home. Everything was fine.
6. If you want your kid to go to the parade, let them skip school. If you had told me in 86 that there would not be another one until the coldest day of 2002, I would have skipped too.
Don't fret. Life will go on.
