The Boston Business Journal reports the Rhode Island-based Hasbro is eyeing possible space in downtown Boston for a new corporate HQ. With Lego blocking out space for its new US headquarters in the Back Bay, could Boston be on the verge of becoming the Fun Hub?

Good chance they are floating this rumor to get more tax breaks and other consideration from RI.
Tax breaks for specific firms never are a net positive to the state. No company is worth it. Put tax money into things that help everyone, not just the books of a single firm.

Providence is a cheaper city but still has a nightlife and city things. I would think it's easier attracting someone new to Providence vs the prospect of paying Boston prices for housing. Plus you have all the longtime back office workers who are going to loathe relocating.
The biggest reason to relocate would be if MA gives them a sweetheart tax or land deal.
Air service might also be part of the equation
If you're running a large multinational corporation being somewhere like Providence can be a minus when Logan is so well-connected to the world. The large airline hubs in Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Minneapolis, etc. have helped drive regional growth and retain companies.
