The Orange Line died when a wire fried
By adamg on Sat, 01/06/2024 - 7:20pm
A smoking electrical wire at Chinatown this afternoon forced the shutdown of the Orange Line - which the T had been promoting as a downtown alternative for the Green Line, which is shut for repairs.
Boston firefighters arrived at the station's outbound side around 4:30 p.m. to find smoke coming from the area between the outbound and inbound tracks. The T shut off the third rail on both sides so firefighters could safely get on the tracks with some extinguishers to put out the smouldering fire. T
he T reported at 5:27 p.m. it had restored service between North Station and Massachusetts Avenue.
