Still no car inspections

The RMV reported this morning its statewide car-inspection system remains down because of that stupid computer-security company's massive screwup last week. Good news for motorcycle owners, though: You can get your wheels inspected now. The Registry says it's working as hard as it can with its vendor, Opus, (presumably not a penguin) to get things fixed.

I think there is more going on here than the cover story "outside vendor had a problem last week that has since been remediated" but we're still closed. Bad management at the RMV for starters.

Are they planning on mentioning this on mass.gov at any point? I was curious over the weekend, but all I could find was stuff related to the 2021 outage.

https://www.mass.gov/info-details/rmv-closures-cancellations-and-delays

"Motor vehicle inspections are unavailable in the state due to the global outage on Friday, July 19, which impacted the use of some technology. The Registry continues to coordinate with its vendor, OPUS, and inspection sites to remedy issues.

Motorcycle inspections are available."

I went looking at Mass.gov too but I finally found it on the RMV website and Twitter. I agree it should be on Mass.gov too because it affects so many people.

I was actually planning to have my car inspected today. Oh, well.

I am indeed a penguin! Working on this job with Milo Bloom, Michael Binkley and Steve Dallas. Cutter John is first in line to get his wheels inspected.

ACK TTTHHFFPP!

... there would have been no outage.

Bloom County. How many people have come and gone from this world since the last time I thought about Bloom County?
