Yesterday's Roslindale power outages caused by a cable that went bad under Belgrade Avenue, Eversource says
The two outages that left part of Roslindale without lights or air conditioning yesterday were caused by "an underground cable fault" underneath Belgrade Avenue, an Eversource spokesperson said today.
"After pinpointing where the fault occurred, our crews worked safely through the night to fully restore power to all those affected by 9:30 this morning," he said. He did not have further details.
Hundreds of homes and businesses in an area bounded roughly by West Roxbury Parkway, Belgrade Avenue, Washington Street and Walter Street lost power twice yesterday.
BPD had to station officers to direct traffic at key intersections - such as West Roxbury Parkway and Belgrade and Washington and Washington, Beech and Walter. Rutchada Thai Cuisine on Belgrade finally threw in the towel and closed early.
The same area also suffered a power outage on July 25.

I'd rather be without power
I'd rather be without power because of a bad underground cable than to get blown up to smithereens because of a bad gas line underground.
