UPDATE: State Police report the man, from Allston, was pulled out of the water around 8 a.m. and rushed to Mt. Auburn Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
State Police report crews are searching the Charles River near the Weeks Footbridge for a man witnesses say jumped into the river shortly before 7 a.m. and then did not surface.

Shannon Dooling ran across a fisherman and his carp along the Esplanade this afternoon. That's a lot of potential gefilte fish.

The Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports:
Preliminary evidence including clothing and other factors suggests that the body is not that of a young man from Harvard, MA, previously reported missing. Identification efforts are under way and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of his death.
We're going to assume JB Parrett was bundled up for his walk along the Esplanade on the Charles this afternoon.

State Police report recovering a man's body from the Charles River near the Fiedler footbridge on the Esplanade this morning.
State Police say they responded around 10 a.m. on a report of a body in the water.

JB Parrett watched a man blowing bubbles on the Esplanade at sunset yesterday.
State Rep. Jay Livingstone reports DCR has turned on its new Alfond Spraydeck on the Esplanade.
There were ropes and floats marking off the swimming area. Out in the river, a DCR patrol boat kept watch to make sure other craft stayed well away. Lifeguards on the dock and in kayaks stood and sat at the ready. And shortly after 3:30 p.m., the first band of swimmers, from kids to retirees, began jumping into the Charles River from a dock on the river side of the lagoon.
The Charles River Conservancy's first CitySplash let people sign up for time in the Charles River which, as we all know, used to be pretty dirty, but which has gotten cleaner over the years. Read more.
