I think I've fixed the problems with the text box on the commenting form (but let me know if I'm wrong), at least for folks logged into the system. 😃
Next time you go to post a comment, you should get a text box with a toolbar with new options, including the all important emoji button (a smiley face that will, no, not push you into the harbor but bring up an emoji-picker menu) and the unusual-character selector (the omega next to the smiley face) that will let you select accented letters, foreign-currency symbols and other characters.
Key thing: Paragraphing now works. Write a paragraph, hit your enter key and the cursor will drop down and create a blank line, so no more old-school typewriter mechanics of hitting enter twice.
Still not working: An easy way to embed an image hosted somewhere else (like those vital memes). For now, if you click on the Image button, you'll be able to upload an image to the UHub server, which will then get put in your comment. It's limited to images of 3 MB and will shrink any images larger than 900 pixels across. Please don't upload copyrighted images (for example, from other news sites).
Next up: Fixing the text-box issues for folks posting without an account.

If you're on a phone, the text-box toolbar extends past the right side of your screen (assuming you're holding your phone vertically, rather than horizontally). You can slide the toolbar over to the left to see the rest of it, but it's kind of annoying; I need to see if there's a way to have the toolbar double over so all of it shows up at once).

Minor point: I liked the comment spacing on the old Uhub better. There's a bit too much whitespace between comments on the new interface. I think the Reply button is what's causing the the gap.
This is a minor point, just some unsolicited feedback. Thanks for all your doing to keep the site going.

Also, not saying if new comments

I miss seeing if there are new comments, rather than just the total number of comments. Will that functionality return?
Thanks for all the fixes so far.
Thank you for the quick fix!

Testing out some of these features: 🤪
New paragraph!
One comment: not to in any way suggest it should be your priority, but the thing I miss most from the fully formed UHub site is the differentiation between total comments and new comments, with an ability to open to the first unread of said comments. As it is currently, I can't really figure out if a thread has any updates, and if there are a lot of comments, it can mean quite a bit of scrolling to find out if there's anything new.

The "new comments" counter/shortcut is periodically appearing but the count is not correct when it does show up on my screen. New comments within an article to seem to be properly tagged as "new" so at least there is that.

I suspect what's happening is the new software is a bit more aggressive in caching stuff than the old.
In general, that's good, because it reduces the number of queries into the database so helps with the speed with which pages show up, but also might mean that something that changes more than once an hour, such as comment counts, are not being updated in real time. Will look into it.

It also is not marking posts as read.. no matter how many times I refresh, it will still say "XX New Comments, XX Unread"
Tracker page?

Is there the equivalent of the tracker page you used to have that listed all the articles by most recent comment and whether any of the comments would be new to me or not?
I am using the Comments tab of my profile page...but if I comment more than once on an article it's a bit messy since the "new" count is on each comment even though it's a total of the new comments in that discussion of that article (so the same number can show up multiple times, once for each of my comments). And it's chronologically in the order I comment and if I don't comment on something I have no idea if there are new comments on an article or not.
That went away with the new software, but ...

Should be easy enough to add back.
Just to be clear, you want a page that shows the names of all articles on the site with the number of comments and which are new? Apologies for asking, it wasn't a page I used myself.

List of articles, ordered by most recent comment (or creation if 0 comments), and a count of how many comments total and how many new comments.
Article -------------------------Last updated ------------Total comments -------- New Comments
This is an article --------- Feb 5, 2025 13:11 ------------ 37 -------------------- 3 new-------------
Something like that.

Specifically, I should be able to write a link <a href="https://UniversalHub.com">, but it doesn't work anymore. It did work yesterday.
