Record level of flu in Massachusetts

A week after reporting flu-related emergency-room visits might have plateaued, WBUR today reports that flu cases have reached record levels in Massachusetts.

I'm not sure if you're implying that somebody has their facts wrong, but these two statements are not inconsistent. Here's the pertinent data for today's report: Percent of Visits Due to Influenza-Like Illness (Region 1)
Last week reported hospitalizations; I couldn't find the exact swine-flu hospitalization breakdown for our region, but national hospitalization for flu shows that at least nationally, this has peaked.
The former article even suggests the reason for both trends: that health officials have successfully gotten the message out that you don't need to hit the ER if you have the flu. Just see your doctor.
