Alice to have more room to park at Wonderland

State officials said today they'll spend $47 million in federal stimulus funds and state bonds for a new garage at Wonderland station on the Blue Line.

At a ceremony there today, Gov. Patrick and other officials said the new nine-story, 1,900-space garage will be the first step in construction of Waterfront Square, a proposed development of 902 residential units, office and retail space and a hotel.

Roughly $23 million of the garage cost wll come from the feds, the rest from an MBTA bond that will be repaid through revenue from the parking lot.

We already have an MBTA parking facility in Lynn (granted, no blue line) and it's very poorly maintained. I agree with having a parking garage rather than a large expanse tarmac in Revere. I just hope the MBTA tosses some change Lynn's way to deal with crumbling cement stairs and such, before more ice gets in there and they have to close the thing down. Revere's going to have to keep on the MBTA to keep the garage lit and safe after its built. The T won't do this automatically.

Salem is getting a new garage too. Why not finish the alewife garage which is usually full by 9am?

Why not also build the blue line out to the Lynn garage?

I do wonder if we really need a Revere garage at Wonderland, especially one that is so large. Revere has so many surface lots already and I can generally find a spot anytime I drive down from the North Shore and some of the lots are 3.50 on top of it. It is already the best parking deal on the MBTA system.

Ever hear of this street called Revere Beach Boulevard? Maybe you can cut the shit with the 4-hour parking limit down there instead of paying to build a garage.

You could have made your argument perfectly well without resorting to obscenities. You might even find more people will agree with you.

Seriously, all the anger comes off as a caricature.

Being nice to them leads to garbage like a $47 million dollar garage. Somebody needs to indicate anger towards the decision makers.

And will continue peppering your posts (and post titles) with obscenities and vulgarities?

Is there a terms of usage agreement that prohibits the language Will is using. If not, he should be able to say what he wants and let people tune him out as they see fit. If vulgarity is hindering his argument, let him figure it out on his own. Fuck it up, Will.

Oh, God, don't make me write a formal terms-of-service agreement!

In the almost five years UH has been around (next month, gotta start planning the big party, snort), I haven't needed to do that - people have generally either been respectful, or responded to a simple request or exploded and then left in a giant puff of smoke (well, OK, only one person did that, but she did it twice, so it was quite memorable).

We're pretty much all adults here. We know what the words are, they're OK on an occasional basis, but when you start using them in every single subject line, it gets to be a bit much, is all.

I stopped talking about the mammary glands of African-American females when you asked me to. I'll curb the swearing as well.

read this rant against southerners I stumbled on by this guy form mass- its fucking hilarious!
Will's got nothin on this guy...

...in that not particularly well-written or insightful rant.

i never heard such an angry rant against southerners plus he really knows how to use the f word to drive his point home

I'm offended by people like you-- your entire contribution to this seems to be snippy hand-wringing and weak little attacks on others. That's far more offensive to me than swearing. People have a right to be offended by that, but if they're really all that offended, they should eff off and cry about it on their own blogs, not whine about it here.

Diplomacy doesn't work with Massholes

He said with an ironic lack of self awareness.

Will you ignorant slut.

He isn't gonna get the reference.

Oh no Mr Bill!!!!

I get SNL references. Come the (expletive) on.
