I was a little afraid to look
I was a little afraid to look at first, having ridden the 9 for a couple years myself.
Entertainment for young commuters
I don't ride the 9 bus, but when I commute with my son I bring little cars & trains along to entertain him. I'm guessing that got left behind by another parent-child combo. And if you ever find a car on the Orange Line it's probably ours.
We do the same.
She should have left it, but admittedly, I'd be tempted- that's a cool one.
Good she grabbed it
It would have rolled off the seat and been lost/scratched or crushed. If they were headed to daycare when it was lost, they wouldn't likely be able to retrieve it.

... they still make 'gansett? That was the most interesting part of that post, for me. I think the last time I had one of those was before a J. Geils concert.

They went out of business, but have been revived over the past few years.

Just went to the website and I see they're sponsoring a tasting at Allston Food on Cambridge St, tomorrow (Saturday.) Not sure I'm free then, but the beer will be, I would suppose, so...

I was weaned on 'Gansett
After my dad graduated from college, his first job was with the Narragansett brewery. Talk about a dream dad - a dad that sells beer. ;-)
Narragansett never went out of business, the owner just stopped making the stuff. Take a look at the history.
The Cranston brewery is no longer, and the current beer is now a contract beer, made by the Genesee guys.

As a 21 y.o. Northeastern, I've recently discovered the glory of the Gansett. I'm from the South Shore to boot, so I feel as though I'm really making a difference when I'm buying their beer. There's a term for resurgence of PBR, Gansett, Schlitz and the like...something like legacy beer? Anyways, their marketing has shifted very much towards people my age who dig that kitschy Hiya Neighbor vibe. PBR is actually starting to become more expensive because hipsters drink so much of it...
