Another Ground Round shut down

No, I didn't realize there were any left, either. But apparently there was at least one still open, in Swampscott, only it's being shut down and turned into an IHOP:
Who doesn't love an IHOP?

They could have turned it into an Applebee's, but that just would have delayed the inevitable.

The Ground Round isn't in Swampscott
That would be Highland Avenue in Salem. I commute past it every day. I noticed the awnings were removed the other day and wondered if they were doing a renovation... but I guess not!
We would go there for lunch sometimes. Best Buffalo Wings around for what's available in this area. Now I'll have to wait until I get home if I'm in the mood for those.

The Salem Ground Round is moving to 400 Highland Ave. I work there and they are in processing of remodel.

Ehh, Bickfords has better food, and it's cheaper. Could use one of them!
Or a really good, open all night dinner.
The one in Cambridge came back
The Ground Round at the Alewife rotary, which had been turned into a place called "Tin Pan Alley" or something similar, has been revived in it's previous guise as a Ground Round.
Strange doings indeed.
I think there's one near crossing of Mass Ave/Melane Casa Blvd
I think I saw one there in the same building as "New Hampton Inn"(is that the name?) I used to go one in Prudential which is now hard to believe. It was located right where Burns & Nobel is currently located or near there. I think that concourse was much narrower back then.
As it was in my college days, dollar draft they had was very precious to me.......
Still A Ground Round In Needham
I believe there's a Ground Round in Needham on Highland Avenue (or is it Newton Street at this point?) near the Needham Sheraton.
I thought it came back and died again
I thought it came back as Tin Pan Alley, changed to Ground Round again, and then died again. Is it open currently?
Applebee's in Cleveland Circle
My dad and stepmom swear by Applebee's salads (they're chain restaurant afficionados of the highest order), and I've had one, and it's not half bad (mainly because it was simple, had actual greens and not iceberg, and seemed less fattening due to portion size and ingredients than a lot of chain meals).
With that one salad experience behind me, my boyfriend and I decided to give the Applebee's in Cleveland Cir a try, when we couldn't take another night of Boloco burritos and weren't in the mood for Thai, pizza or the lodge-y warmth of Cityside.
Bad move. Actually, I had another ok salad, but the overly bright, faux-chipper atmosphere at most chain's just makes me want to kill myself half the time, and his meal was terrible.
It's a shame, because this Applebee's has outdoor dining, so appealing on these beautiful summer days.
Thanks Univ. Hub for letting me know to keep my eyes out for its eventual demise.
