The Outraged Liberal considers Robert DeLeo's comments on a day when most people aren't going to be paying too much attention to his thoughts on the Probation Department scandal.
As to whether Deleo is going to demand an investigation into the circumstances that contributed to his godson getting at Probation. After a nation-wide search, of course.
And we go back to Casablanca: "I'm shocked, SHOCKED to discover that there is gambling going on here...."
Petrolati is the absolute personification of everything we love to hate about MA politics. Amazingly, he gets re-elected, showing that the electorate doesn't care about character as long they think he's good for them. Very Wilkerson-esque.
Here's an article from 2005 describing his rise to power.
McGrory had a piece on 9/3/10 that was an update on this slimeball, but there is an archive fee to read it.
There needs to be a check box for "No confidence" on every ballot. If a candidate is running unopposed, it would give everyone an easy way to vote against them. If there were two candidates on the ballot and "No confidence" + the challengers votes, exceeded the incumbent, then another primary & election should have to be run with different candidates. This is probably the only easy way to get rid of unopposed lords in their personal fiefdoms and allow the electorate to say no to being forced to choose between two horrible candidates.
Some may say extending the process this way would be expensive and time consuming. But in case they haven't noticed, so is our corrupt system of government. Might as well try a bit of reform.
